Social care services usually work with children or families who are under stress, people with disabilities, people with emotional or psychological difficulties, people with financial or housing problems and older people who need help with daily living activities.

One of the biggest differences between social care, primary care and secondary care is that social care services are usually run by local councils, not the NHS, although they may work in conjunction with the NHS.
