What the health system can do for you

There are a huge number of organisations and services in the NHS, and it’s not always obvious which one you should turn to. In this area we'll look at some of the key services that you might come into contact with.

General Practitioners (GPs) are a key part of the health system, and offer a first point of contact with the NHS. There's resources on choosing a GP, registering with one, and changing your doctor.

In case you need help urgently, there are details of NHS Direct, walk-in centres and sexual health clinics. There’s also information on being treated in hospital, and social care services.
