Your healthcare
At some point during your life, you will come into contact with, and need assistance from, the health system. For people living with HIV or another long term or lifelong medical condition that contact can be regular and ongoing. For others, apart from the occasional visit to the doctor for a flu vaccination, stomach upset, travel vaccination or check up, contact is less frequent. For some people, the health system can seem daunting and confusing, for others it seems irrelevant as they currently have no need for it.
Whatever contact you have with the health system, this information has been provided to give you a better understanding of how the system works, why it's important for you to know about it, even if you are not ill, and why being gay or lesbian is relevant to your health.
